Eaton School District is proud to be recognized by the Colorado Department of Education as a Colorado Attendance Challenge Champion for its significant progress in reducing chronic absenteeism.
Based on 2025–2026 school year data, Eaton has decreased its student chronic absenteeism rate by 56.6% over the past four years, dropping from 26.7% in 2021–2022 to 11.6% in 2025–2026.
The Colorado Department of Education launched the Attendance Challenge in 2023–2024 with a goal of reducing chronic absenteeism across the state by more than 50% by 2028. Eaton has already surpassed that goal, putting the district well ahead of schedule.
This achievement reflects a shared commitment to keeping students engaged in learning and in class every day. Educators, families, students and community members all play an important role in creating schools where students feel connected, supported and excited to be part of their school community.
And when asked why they like coming to school, Eaton students have plenty to say. From friends and teachers to activities, learning and the everyday experiences that make school special, their voices are a great reminder of why showing up matters.
Eaton is one of 18 Attendance Challenge Champions recognized by the Colorado Department of Education for leading the way in improving student attendance.
